History

Initially established in 1938, the then New York Referees Association was formed by a group of referees representing various sports. In 1970 the NYRA was officially incorporated in the state of New York. In November 2020, the name of the association was officially changed to the New York Soccer Referees Association, Inc. to more accurately reflect the association’s purpose.

NYSRA celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2023. Throughout its history, the New York Soccer Referees Association has had, and still has to this day, referees of all levels from beginners to FIFA panel Referees & Assistant Referees from both from within the United States and abroad, and everything in between.

NYSRA represents New York’s finest soccer referees and strives to improve soccer and soccer refereeing for all its participants.
